In Age of Wulin players must select a personal storyline before creating their character. This is not a choice that should be made lightly, as in this game players are allowed to have only one character per account. This is a unique and intended feature of the game so that there is actual weight to players' character decisions, creating a more engaging experience and personal ties with the character.

When deleting a character, there is a 48 hour protection period in which the character can be reclaimed; only after it, a new character can be created.

Character customization in Age of Wulin consists of:

  • Gender selection
  • Face selection, which can be
    • chosen from 10 "Pre-Set Facial Shapes"
    • obtained as a result of adjusting the following parameters:
      • Eyebrow
      • Eye
      • Nose
  • Hairstyle selection - 5 possible choices
  • Head Portrait - 4 possible choices
  • Clothes, consisting of
    • Top
    • Pants
    • Shoes

When they are satisfied with character's appearance, players will have to click "Enter Name" button; after successfully naming it, they should click "Confirm":


Character Attributes[edit | edit source]

Basic Stats[edit | edit source]

  • Life (HP) - character's Hit Points. When Life reaches zero, character becomes seriously injured, and may go into shock. Life can be recovered quickly by meditating, taking a Recovery Medicine, using a Herbalist Medicine or eating certain Foods. It will also slowly recover every 5 seconds while out of combat, the amount being related to the value of Stamina attribute; default Restore Speed is 5 HP per 5 seconds. While having a buff to help recover Life, the Life bar will be brighter as opposed to its normal red color
  • Internal Power - character's energy (MP). Most moves require it. It can be recovered quickly by the same means as Life attribute. Internal Power will also slowly recover every 5 seconds while out of combat, the amount being related to the value of Stamina attribute; default Restore Speed is 4 points per 5 seconds. While having a buff to help recover Internal Power, the Energy bar will be brighter as opposed to its normal blue color
  • Lightness Skill Value - required by Lightness (Qinggong) Skills. Recovers automatically, the more the remaining points, the faster the recovery rate
  • Physical Strength - performing Life Skills require it. Its golden bar can be seen in the "My life" main interface. It automatically recovers every 5 minutes, amount being based on character's Hunger (Satiety attribute's value). If Satiety reaches zero, there is still a small amount of Physical Strength being regenerated (2 points every 5 minutes). Benefiting Qi Pills can also recover 30 points of Physical Strength each. Players are only able to recover the maximum amount of their Physical Strength once per day though, so if they finished their Physical Strength for the day, they will need to wait another day for it to regenerate. Maximum Physical Strength is determined by a combination of:
  • Satiety - assistive Life Skills attribute: the higher it is, the faster Physical Strength recovers. Similar with Physical Strength, its blue bar can also be seen in the "My life" main interface. Satiety value will automatically go down over time. If it reaches zero, character loses about 25% of its Life (HP). Starving state is also shown by an icon in the Buffs/Debuffs and Status area to the left of the minimap and by a system announcement. Characters must eat Food produced by Cooks to recover Satiety
  • Kill - evil deeds like killing and kidnapping other players increases its value. At a high enough Kill value a bounty can be set on a character and authorized players and NPCs can arrest and throw it in prison; the higher the Kill value, the longer the imprisonment.   • Drinking Capacity - drinking alcohol without getting drunk will increase this value
  • Strength - increases Melee Damage, External Attack Critical Hit and the maximum amount of character Life (HP)
  • Body Method - increases Ranged Damage, External Attack Accuracy, Dodge and the amount of Block Endurance
  • Internal Breathing - increases Internal Attack Damage and maximum Internal Power
  • Vigorous Qi - increases Internal Attack Accuracy, Internal Attack Critical Hit, Internal Defense, maximum Internal Power and the rate of Internal Power recovery
  • Stamina - increases life (HP), Resilience and Block Endurance

Combat Attributes[edit | edit source]

  • Dodge - obtained from the Body Method attribute, it influences others' Accuracy against the character: the higher the Dodge value, the less it will be hit
  • Blocking Force - obtained from the Stamina attribute, it influences others’ Critical Hit on the character: the higher the Blocking Force value, the less it will be Critically Hit
  • External Parry - decides the percentage of External Attack Damage reduced after the character successfully parry
  • External Skill Defence - obtained from Equipment, it reduces External Attack Damage
  • Internal Parry - decides the percentage of Internal Attack Damage reduced after the character successfully parry
  • Melee Damage - obtained from the Strength attribute, it increases the damage of character's External Melee Attacks
  • External Attack Accuracy - obtained from the Body Method attribute, it influences the accuracy of character's External Attacks
  • External Attack Critical Hit - obtained from the Strength attribute, it influences character's chance to Critically Hit with its External Attacks
  • Ranged Damage - obtained from the Body Method attribute, it increases the damage of character's ranged Hidden Weapons
  • Internal Attack Damage - obtained from the Internal Breathing attribute, it increases the damage of character's Internal Skill
  • Internal Attack Accuracy - obtained from the Vigorous Qi attribute, it influences character's accuracy of Internal Skill Attacks
  • Internal Attack Critical Hit - obtained from the Vigorous Qi attribute, it influences character's chance to Critically Hit with its Internal Skill
  • Block Endurance - obtained from the Body Method and Stamina attributes; parrying attacks costs Block Endurance, having no Block Endurance means attacks cannot be blocked
  • Hard Defense - obtained from the Spirit attribute, it reduces an opponent's Hard Damage
  • Soft Defense - obtained from the Spirit attribute, it reduces an opponent's Soft Damage
  • Yin Defense - obtained from the Spirit attribute, it reduces an opponent's Yin Damage
  • Yang Defense - obtained from the Spirit attribute, it reduces an opponent's Yang Damage
